Recording Phone Calls
Recording phone calls can be incredibly useful for many situations:
- Capturing important details from business discussions
- Documenting customer service interactions
- Preserving interviews or research conversations
- Keeping records of agreements or verbal contracts
With Cue, you can easily convert these recordings into searchable, organized notes with key action items extracted automatically.
Recording Phone Calls on iOS
Apple does not allow third-party apps to record phone calls directly, please use the following guide.
With iOS 18.1 and later, Apple has introduced a built-in call recording feature directly within the Phone app. For more information, see Apple's documentation.
During a call:

Tap the Start Call Recording button in the top left of the screen.

Both call participants hear an audio notice that the call is being recorded.

To stop recording, tap the Stop button or just hang up.

Call recordings are automatically saved to a Call Recordings folder in the Notes app.

To see the call in the Notes app, tap View Saved Call.
Using Recordings with Cue
After you've recorded a call using iOS's built-in feature:
- Open the Cue app
- Navigate to the notes screen
- Press the "+" icon to upload the audio
- Select the recording from your Notes app
- Cue will process the recording and generate a comprehensive summary with action items
By importing your call recordings into Cue, you can leverage Cue's powerful AI to extract key information, organize content by topic, and identify action items - making your recorded conversations much more valuable and actionable.
